Lamart interprets for the first time in Capodimonte porcelain, the legend of the "Moor's Heads", a story of Love, Jealousy and Revenge.
- A Sicilian girl of noble origins lived a clandestine love affair with a young Arab, but this impossible love was soon discovered and the dishonorable act punished with the beheading of both young lovers. The shame of this love would also have been proclaimed by the posting of both heads (transformed for the occasion into vases) on a balcony. The outrage, exalted by these heads placed at the mercy of passers-by, would have been in this way an effective warning against any other possible inappropriate passion. For this reason, the Moor's Heads would be made in pairs, in memory and in honor of the two murdered lovers.
